 It has been over 50 years since the outbreak of the Korean War and drawing of the 155-mile cease-fire line from the East Sea to the Yellow Sea , which created the Demilitarized Zone(DMZ). Symbolizing both war and peace, and division and unification, the DMZ is a place where time has come to a stop. Today, it is a haven for rare animals, birds and plants in one of the few places where nature remains undisturbed.

Suwon Hwaseong Fortress was designated on UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage Site in Dec 1997.It was built to show the King's filial piety toward his father Jangheonseja, and also to build a new city with its own economic power. Korean Folk Village, Set in a natural environment occupying approximately 243 acres, visitors can experience the natural atmosphere with over 260 traditional houses reminiscent of the late Joseon Dynasty, including various household goods from different regions.

Gyeongbok Palace, the most representative edifices of the Joseon Dynasty, Gyeonghoe-ru Pavilion and Hyangwon jeong Pond still remain. Woldae and sculptures of Geunjeongjeon (The Royal Audience Chamber) represent the past sculpture art which was the trend back then. Icheon Pottery Village is the largest ceramics village in Korea where some 250 kilns are gathered. Not only can you purchase ceramics but make them yourself. The World Ceramics Biennale Korea is held at the mainly at Icheon World Ceramics Center.
